In Memory: - George Englert, Jr.

George Richard "Rick" Englert, Jr. 52, husband of Darla Doll en Englert died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Houston, Texas after an extended illness of lung cancer.

He was born September 30 1948, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the son of George R. and Mary Margaret Englert, Sr.

On November 19, 1977, he married Darla Dollen of Minden, Iowa.

Mr. Englert graduated form Lillis High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1966. He joined the United States Air Force in 1967, spending time in Labrador and Vietnam. Mr. Englert graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville in 1975. He worked for Union Texas Petroleum as an International Negotiator and Gas Trader for 21 years.

In 1996, he pursued his life's ambition and started his own gourmet restaurant business, known as Haute Groceries.

Mr. Englert was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where both Darla and he served as volunteer youth directors.

He resided at 519 W. 32nd Street, Houston, Texas 77018, for the past 26 years. Mr. Englert enjoyed spending time with his family, his church and his cooking. In his neighborhood, he was known as "The Rev".

Survivors, besides his wife Darla include his son George Richard "Trey" Englert, his mother, Mary Margaret Jensen; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were March 12, 2001 at St. Rose of Lima Church with interment at Houston National Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Bank One, 4320 Ella Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77018, Attn: George Richard "Trey" Englert, III, Educational Fund.
