Karen L. May

Karen L. (Brown) May, 57, died March 3 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

She was born June 17, 1945, in Council Bluffs to Curley Brown and Nellie Williams. She was a woodworker for Central Woodworking, and was a longtime babysitter for many children in Council Bluffs for more than 20 years.

Mrs. May and her husband, Phil, were married for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Estel Brown; and a sister, Merlyn Swanson.

Survivors in addition to her husband include two sons, Jason and Mark of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Amber and Lindsay of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Berna Evans of Creston and Nelle Linkenhoker and husband, Jeff, of Thurman; seven brothers, Byron Brown and wife, Anita, of Savannah, Ga., Larry Brown and wife, Peggy, Lyle Brown and wife, Deb, Steven Brown and wife. Cheryl, Forrest Brown and wife, Betty Jo, Hardy Brown and wife, Sandy, and Richard Brown and wife, Regina, all of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Prescott officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be offered to the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.
