In Memory: Lila M. Leaders

Lila M. Leaders, 73, of Council Bluffs, died December 6 at Risen Son Nursing Home.

She was born on December 21, 1928, in Honey Creek to Francis and Emma (Price) Whittington. She graduated from Underwood High School in 1946. She lived in Minden from 1948-98. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1998.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Midlands Evangelical Free Church. She was a member of Gideons International and Farm Bureau.

She and her husband, Lauren, were married for 54 years.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Allen and wife, Connie, of Bellevue, Nebraska and Marlin and wife, Sherry, of Duncanville, Texas; two daughters, Lavonne Toner and husband, Tim, of Dubuque and Carol Gregg and husband, Larry, of Hawarden; two brothers, Darrell Whittington and wife, Jeanine, of Austin, Texas, and Arlon Whittington of McClelland; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Visitation was Monday at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Midland Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Don Hale officiating. Burial was in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the church. Gideons International, the nursing home or Alzheimers Association.
