Eugene A. Frieze

Eugene A. Frieze, 81, of Council Bluffs died March 1 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

Mr. Frieze was born in Council Bluffs and was a veteran of World War II. He was a truck driver for Trans Con before retiring in 1978.

He and his wife, Maxine, were married for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Comstock.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Donna Westwood and husband, Jim, of Paonia, Colo., Anna Tangen and husband, Buck, of Front Royal, Va. and Patti Rytter of Council Bluffs; two sons, Roger and wife, Jean, and Glen and wife, Cathy, all of Council Bluffs; two stepdaughters, Pat Garbers and husband, Fred, of Columbus, Neb. and Paula Girard and husband, Gerald, of South Sioux City, Neb.; one stepson, Steven Narans and wife, Mary, of Fremont, Neb.; three sisters, Helen Lang of Phoenix, Ariz., Paulene Meadows and husband, Ronnie, and Mary Ann Garner and husband, Gail, all of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Henry and wife, Judy, of Crescent and Richard of Arizona; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home.

Services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Marvin Arnpriester officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Oregon, Mo.

Memorials may be given to Broadway United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
