In Memory: Gust A. Sindt Jr.

Funeral for Gust A. Sindt Jr., 80, of Council Bluffs was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Meyer. Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. E.A. Hering of St. John Lutheran Church officiating.

Mr. Sindt died April 12 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born in Tennant and lived in Shelby before moving to Council Bluffs in 1976. He graduated from Tennant High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He farmed at Shelby until 1976.

Mr. Sindt and his wife, Melba (Fledge), were married 48 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Bret Riche and wife, Pam, of Martinez, California, Gust Sindt and wife, Sanda, of Urbana, Missouri, and Scott Sindt of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Mabel Stuhr of Council Bluffs and Hilda Christensen of Harlan; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held at the funeral home.

Burial was in the Minden Cemetery with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737.
