In Memory: Franklin Jones Sr.

Franklin George Jones Sr., 70, and a lifetime resident of Council Bluffs died July 15 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital of natural causes.

He was born in Council Bluffs and was a member of the First Christian Church.

From 1945 to 1949, he served in the United States Marine Corps in China and was awarded the Presidential Citation and the Purple Heart.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne C. (Hansen) Jones, in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Franklin G. Jr. of Neola; a brother, Philip Dean of Council Buffs and two grandchildren.

Funeral was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Beem-Belford Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert K. Boseck (Ret.), of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial with military rites presented by V.F.W. Post No 737, was in Malvern Cemetery.
