In Memory: Charlotte Meyer

Funeral for Charlotte Margaret Meyer, 65, a former Council Bluffs resident, was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Council Bluffs, with the Rev. Chuck Kottas officiating. Burial was at 1 p.m. in the Mineola Cemetery.

Ms. Meyer died July 1, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital of cancer.

She was born in Hartley where she graduated from Hartley High School in 1953. In 1954, she graduated from the former Barnes School of Beauty in Council Bluffs. She had lived in Silver City for the past 26 years.

Ms. Meyer worked as a beautician at Edna Kline and Joseph's and was owner and operator of Yours & Mine Beauty Shop from 1954 to 1974.

She was a member of St. Peter's Church.

Ms. Meyer was preceded in death by her husband, LaVon H. Miller, on April 30, 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Klahn and husband, Stan, of Treynor; stepson, Larry Miller and wife, Amy, of Silver City; six sisters, Rosemary Salver and husband, John, of Portland, Oregon, Patricia Starman and husband, Ray, of Elgin, Nebraska, Ruth Adams of Chicago, Marilyn Neumann and husband, Ron, of London, Ontario, Canada and Janice Benzl and Yvonne Kapp of Omaha; four brothers, Clifford McCarty and wife, Marilyn, of Melvin, Larry McCarty and wife, Mary Kay, of Littleton, Colorado, and Dan McCarty and wife, Marla and Paul McCarty, all of Omaha and three grandchildren.

A wake service was held Monday at 7 p.m. at Beem-Belford Funeral Home, with visitation following until 8:30 p.m.
