In Memory: Irene Hutchens

Funeral for Irene P. Hutchens, 81, of Council Bluffs was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dodge Memorial Congregational Church with the Rev. Virginia Doherty Officiating.

Mrs. Hutchens died June 20 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born in Faulkton, South Dakota, and graduated from Faulkton High School. She worked as a clerk for Evans Ice Cream and Eve's Bakery. She was a member of Dodge Memorial Congregational Church, taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Woman's Fellowship and past president of Plymouth Circle. She was active in numerous social business and church organizations.

Mrs. Hutchens and her husband, Robert, were married 59 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Mike and wife, Pat, of Treynor, Rick and wife, Di, of Elk Grove, California, and Dave and wife, Carla, of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Marie Lerew of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Lois Hessenflow of Bonham, Texas; three brothers, Jim Faurot of Sibley, Bill Faurot of San Diego and Cal Faurot of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held Friday evening at MeyerWoodring Funeral Home. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to the Dodge Memorial Congregational Church Parlor Renovation Fund.
Memorials may be offered to Grace Presbyterian Church.
