In Memory: Mary M. Elias

Mary M. Elias, 88, of Anaheim, California, formerly of Council Bluffs and Neola, died October 26 at the Buena Vista Care Center in Anaheim.

Mrs. Elias, a graduate of Storm Lake High School, was born August 7, 1912 in Ottumwa.

After graduation from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, Elias moved to Neola and then Council Bluffs. A registered nurse for more than 50 years, she taught orthopedic nursing at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Elias was a nursing supervisor at the Pioneer Hospital in Artesia, California, for 15 years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Martyr Catholic Church in Anaheim.

Survivors include one sister, Janaan Gray of Anaheim.

Funeral services were held October 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Fremont, Nebraska.

Burial was in the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of the arrangements.
