In Memory: Irma Kadel

Irma Kadel, one of five children of Wilford and Irene (Addison) Chase was born November 18, 1927 near Minden, Iowa.

She graduated from Minden High School in 1945 and was married to Donald Chester Kadel September 16, 1945.

They established their home near Minden and in 1950 moved to Henderson, Iowa.

Irma became secretary for the Nishna Valley School District near Hastings, Iowa. She retired in 1989. She was an active member of the Henderson Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship and served as a deaconess and church treasurer. She enjoyed quilting and flower gardening.

Irma and Donald had been married for 52 years when Donald died December 1, 1997.

Following a brief illness, Irma died on December 5, 2000 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

In addition to Donald, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Faye Smith; and brother, Wayne Chase.

She is survived by her son, Gregg Kadel and his wife Paula of Henderson; daughter LeeAnn Clifton and her husband Delyn of Auburn, Nebraska; sister, Wands Diemer and her husband Richard of Minden; brother Larry Chase and his wife Kaye of Indianola; brother-in-law Harold Smith of Council Bluffs; sister-in-law Mary Chase of Atlantic; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Friday, December 8, at the Henderson Christian Church in Henderson, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the church.
