In Memory: Gertrude E. Narmi

Gertrude Elizabeth Narmi, 97, died December 22 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

She was born in Carroll to Henry and Elizabeth (Ahrling) Kurtz. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Queen of the Apostles Church and was a charter member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Bluffs Garden Club, the Chicago & North Western Auxiliary and Navy Mothers Club and was a Red Cross volunteer.

Mrs. Narmi was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, on July 22, 1968.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Shudak of Underwood and Dolly Gentile and husband, Sam, of Council Bluffs; seven sons, Joseph V. and Jon L. and, wife, Candi, all of Council Bluffs, Anthony M. of Alburnett, retired Rear Adm. Ronald E. and wife, Faye, of Alexandria, Virginia, Francis D. and wife, Dorothy, of Denver, Arthur L. and wife, Lois, Michael and wife, Tina, all of Anahaim, California; 43 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary recitation was held at Belford-O'Neill Funeral Home, followed by visitation with the family. Funeral was held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Queen of the Apostles Church with the Rev. Thomas Crowley officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, followed by a lunch at Queens Social Hall.

Memorials may be offered to Queen of the Apostles Church or the Narmi Scholarship Fund at St. Albert School.
