In Memory: Herman Sanders

Funeral for Herman R. Sanders, 85; of Comstock, Nebraska, was held January 19 at the United Methodist Church in Comstock with Mark Crist officiating.

Mr. Sanders died January 8 at Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

He was born January 30, 1915, in Arcadia to Otto and Stella (Gorney) Sanders. After his mother died, he lived with Lloyd Sanders and attended Roe Grove country school east of Sargent. He had lived in and around the Council Bluff's area and worked as a welder in Omaha. He moved to Comstock 15 years ago and had been a resident of the Sargent Nursing Center since 1999.

Mr. Sanders and his wife, Mora Jo (Tisserat), were married November 27, 1957.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Valerie Harman and husband, Eldon, of Minden and Julie Griebel and husband, Doug, of Comstock; a son, Dallas, of Minden; a stepdaughter, Bobbe Sutton, of Council Bluffs; a stepson, Peter Tisserat, of Deer Trail, Colorado; two sisters, Margarite Trvdik of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Martha Avey of Ansley, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Burial was in Kent Cemetery east of Taylor, Nebraska. Rhoades Funeral Home in Comstock was in charge of arrangements.
