In Memory: Herman Verck
Herman C. Vierck, 82, died January 7 at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley. He was born in Hancock and had lived in Treynor.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a truck driver for Gooch Feed and for the Co-op Elevator in Oakland, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Lamar Hartje American Legion Post.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty M. (Forrester), in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Rick and his wife Julie Ann of Council Bluffs; three sisters, Theresa Wright and husband Floyd and Dolores Briggs, all of Council Bluffs, and Lucia Vorthmann of Treynor; three grandchildren, one great granddaughter, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday evening at Meyer Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs.

Funeral was to be Wednesday morning at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Treynor with the Rev. Glenn Schacht officiating. Burial was to be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Treynor Fire and Rescue or the Treynor Community Center.
