In Memory: Lester Thomsen

Lester Ralph Thomsen, 91, died December 3, 2001 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan.

Lester was born on July 1, 1910 north of Shelby. He lived on the farm for a year before moving to Bentley and then to Minden. Lester was the youngest of four children born to Thomas and Emma (Kaven) Thomsen. In 1919 the family moved to Avoca by way of a freight car. He graduated from Avoca High School in 1929.

Lester enjoyed trap shooting, duck hunting, bowling and golfing. He had his second hole-in-one few days from his 82nd birthday. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Edna of Avoca, three children: Delores and her husband, Clifton Woodworth of Orlando, Florida, Karen Eble of Missoula, Montana and Linda and her husband, Tom Eitmann of Treynor, Iowa, one sister, Lulla Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Lester was preceded in death by his sister Blanche Hough, brother Howard, son-in-law Roger Eble and granddaughter Holly Marie Eble.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 7 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca with Pastor John Rinds and Lay Assistant Wayne Paulsen officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery.
