In Memory: Nadine True

Neva Nadine True, 76, died on March 4, 2000 in Kansas City, Missouri at the home of her daughter.

Born on December 27, 1923 in Hancock, Nadine was one of six children in the family of Lawrence and Edith Fletcher McKinny. She attended school in Hancock and graduated with the Class of 1941.

Nadine married Howard True on November 27, 1942 at the Hancock Methodist Church in Hancock. They had four children: Larry, Tom, Patti and Wendy. Nadine and Howard lived in Aberdeen, Maryland until Howard was released from the Army in 1945, when they moved to Avoca.

Nadine worked at the Colonial Manors Nursing Home and later owned and operated the Avoca Fabric Center. Nadine also cared for both sets of parents in her home. She way a member of the United Church of Avoca.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, who died in 1989; three brothers, Duane, Lyle and LaVerne; and two sisters, Phyllis Porter and Eileen Cavanaugh.

Survivors include her children, Larry and his wife Rogene of Belton, Missouri, Tom True and his wife Jane of Avoca, Patti and her husband Michael Waters of Atlantic, and Wendy and her husband Tim Witcig of Kansas City, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral ceremonies were to be held at the United Church of Avoca on Thursday, March 9 at 11 A.M with the Rev. Will Bynagte officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery at Avoca.
