In Memory: Paul P. Manhart

Funeral for Paul P. Manhart, 82, of Council Bluffs was held Tuesday' at 2 p.m. at Beem-Belford Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Reger, pastor of First Congregational Church, officiating.

Mr. Manhart died March 4 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

He was born in Neola and had lived in Council Bluffs for 56 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was clerk for Union Pacific Railroad for 31 years, retiring in 1980.

He had owned and operated Paul's Tree Service for many years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Minden and the First Congregational Church in Council Bluffs, the U.P. Oldtimers, South Omaha Eagles Club and Farm Bureau.

Mr. Manhart and his wife, Lillie (Clark), were married 57 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Lynn and wife, Eve, of Council Bluff's and James and wife, Patty, of Fremont, Nebraska; a sister, Jewel Thomas, of Neola; a brother, Lynn, and wife, Eva, of Neola; and four grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held at the funeral home.

Burial was in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to the First Congregational Church.
