In Memory: Howard T. Knox

A memorial service for Howard T. Knox, 74, of Treynor was held Saturday at 10 A.M. at Zion Congregational Church in Treynor with the Rev. Ken Dohmen officiating.

Mr. Knox died January 26 at an Omaha hospital.

He was born in Carson, graduated from Carson High School in 1943 and had lived in Treynor for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and sang in the Navy choir at the funeral of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was a hydroengineering technician for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Zion Congregational Church and the Omaha Wild Clowndom Club. He served on the Treynor City Council for 12 years and had been a member of the Treynor fire department for 20 years.

Mr. Knox and his wife, Darleen (Schnepel), were married August 29, 1946.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Carole Watt, and husband, James, of LaPalma, California; a son, Kurtis H., and wife, Diane, of Glenwood; and six grandchildren.

The body has been cremated. Burial of ashes will be at the Clown Hall of Fame at Delavan, Wisconsin. Cutler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be offered to the Treynor fire department.
