Loring F. Lippold, 74, of Avoca died September 14 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan.

He was born near Avoca. He attended school through the eighth grade, then worked on the farm. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe after World War II. He farmed, retiring in January 1997. He was a member of Fred Funston American Legion Post of Avoca.

Mr. Lippold and his wife, Donna, were married 49 years.

Loring was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Willis Lippold.

Survivors in addition to his wife include four daughters; Connie Pieken and husband, Terry, of Waterloo, Patty Tripp and husband, Craig, of Avoca, Carol Leaders and husband, Robert and Jeanette Lippold, all of Underwood; a son, Terry, and wife, Cindy, of Hancock; a sister, Dorothy Schnieder, of Columbus, Nebraska; two brothers, Earl of Shelby and Larry of Avoca; 13 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family was held at Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca.

Services were held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca with lay assistant Wayne Paulsen officiating.

Burial was in Graceland Cemetery at Avoca with military graveside rites by the Fred Funston American Legion Post #227.
