In Memory: Virgil P. Miller

Funeral for Virgil P. Miller, 81, of Council Bluffs was held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Gus George of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating.

Mr. Miller died September 13 at his home.

He was born in Mineola and lived in the Treynor area before moving to Council Bluffs six months ago.

He served in the 8th U.S Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Miller was self-employed as a livestock buyer and seller for more than 50 years. He also worked at Bluffs Run Casino for 10 years. `

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Treynor American Legion Post No. 725.

Mr. Miller and his wife, Vera, were married 58 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Virgene Miller, of Littleton, Colorado; two sons, James and wife, Nancy, of Crescent and Scott and wife, Connie, of Milwaukee; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held at the funeral home.

Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery with military rites conducted by Treynor American Legion Post No. 725.

Memorials may be offered to the Methodist Hospital Hospice.
