In Memory: Minnie E. McCartney
(January 13, 1901 - November 11, 2000)

Funeral for Minnie Edith McCartney, 99, a resident of Northcrest Care & Rehabilitation, was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Judy Flanegin of the Hancock and Silver Creek United Methodist churches officiating.

Mrs. McCartney died November 11 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

She was born in Lebanon, Missouri, and lived in Carson until 1954, then lived in Omaha before she moved to Council Bluffs. She had been a resident at Northcrest for six years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 104.

Mrs. McCartney was preceded in death by her first husband, Alpha Core, in 1950 and her second husband, Vern H. McCartney, in 1973.

Survivors include two daughters, Nadine Butera and husband, Joe, of Omaha and Imogene Rodenburg and husband, Raymond "Bud," of Minden; a son, Jesse Ray Core, and wife, Jan, of Henderson; three sisters, Viola Watson and Frances Hoffman, both of Omaha, and Ruby Turner of Council Bluffs; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial was in the Carson Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737.
