Florence Ravlin

Mass of Christian burial for Florence (Ryan) Ravlin, 98, of Council Bluffs will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. John O. Bertogli and Rev. Paul Monahan co-officiating.

Mrs. Ravlin died Feb. 16 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

She was born Aug. 1, 1905, in Underwood to Michael J. Ryan and Mary A. Hannifan. She graduated in 1923 from St. Joseph School in Des Moines and Duchense College in 1927. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1966. She was a school teacher at Underwood, Glenwood and Walnut Grove School in Council Bluffs for many years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. Columbanus Church in Weston and St. Patrick's Church in Council Bluffs, Catholic Daughters of America and Altar & Rosary Society. She was a 30-plus year volunteer for Red Cross and a longtime Mercy Hospital volunteer.

Mrs. Ravlin was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon, in 1980. They were married 45 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Ilene Bittle and husband, Donald, of Henderson, Nev., Kathleen Roberts and husband, Jim, of Anchorage, Ala., and Jeannine Evans and husband, Bill, of Woodbridge Va.; two sons, Terry and wife, Mary Lee, of Underwood and Larry and wife, Judy, of Council Bluffs; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

Wake service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. followed by visitation until 8 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in St. Columbanus Cemetery in Weston. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be offered to St. Patrick's and St. Columbanus churches and Bethany Lutheran Home.
