Vincent E. Roche

Funeral for Vincent Roche, 79, of Council Bluffs will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Benedict Kenkel officiating.

Mr. Roche died Feb. 13 at his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Correctionville to Vincent H. and Elsie (Joy) Roche. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard in World War II, the Korean and the Vietnam wars. He was a Chief Boatsmate in the U.S. Coast Guard for 22 years and retired in 1964. He also worked as a self-employed painter. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737 and belonged to the Catholic church.

Mr. Roche and his wife, Carolyn (Coy), were married 49 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Julie Sidzyik and husband, William II, and Darcy Rooney, all of Council Bluffs; a sister, Patricia Goin and husband, Lloyd, of Peoria, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Darrell, David, Nicholas, Desta, Dylan and William; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Garner Township Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 2.
