Joyce A. Thompson

Joyce A. Thompson, age 73, of Omaha, passed away April 14, 2009, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Joyce was born November 15, 1935, in Beebeetown, Iowa to Richard J. and Mary C. (Ostdiek) Thompson.

She graduated from Logan, Iowa High School in 1955. Joyce served her country in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960 and served in the Naval Reserve from 1968-1987. She retired from Woodman of the World after 34 years of service in 1999. Joyce was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Omaha; Eagles Club, Aerie #38 and the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Joyce is survived by her sister, Judy L. Blodgett (David), Tekamah, Neb.; brother, Richard J. Thompson (Elizabeth), Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews.

Wake service, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Mass, Saturday, 11:30 a.m., St. Peter's Catholic Church, Omaha. Reverends Damien Cook and Anthony Weidner will be the celebrants. A lunch will immediately follow the service.

Interment, Saturday, 2 p.m. Neola, Iowa Cemetery with military rites tendered by Neola American Legion Post #330.

Memorials to S.O.L.A.S. preferred.
