In Memory: Nemar Eckert

Funeral for Nemar Eckert, 84, of Oakland was held Thursday at 10:30 A.M. at the Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Nolte and the Rev. Ted Welch officiating.

Mr. Eckert died April 15 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

He was born January 12, 1917, near Oakland to John Ray and Myra (Killion) Eckert. He attended Oakland schools and farmed the family farm near Oakland all of his life. He was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, Knights of Pythias and the Last Man's Club.

Survivors include three sisters, Lella Mercer of Long Beach, California, Irene Vallier of McClelland and Bernice Carr of Carson; two brothers, Archie of Jacksonville, Florida, and Mike of Las Vegas; 25 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation with the family was held at Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland.
