In Memory: Laurene Christensen

Laurene K. Christensen, 62, of Council Bluffs died February 2 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1940 to James I. and Kathryn L. (Staats) Gordon. She was a 1958 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School.

She retired from Union Pacific Railroad as an administrative assistant in 1999 after 25 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Donald H. Christensen, on June 20, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Keith and his wife Carla of Treynor and Donald and his wife Gina of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren, Charles "CJ" Woltman, Anthony, Kayli, Eric and Kyle Christensen; four sister in law, Agnes McManus of Glenwood, Clara Horan and her husband Francis, Mabel Bandomer and her husband Art and Helen Waugh, all of Council Bluffs; two brothers in-law, Howard Christensen and his wife Jean and Robert Christensen and his wife Lisa, all of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

Prayer service with the family was planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday with visitation to follow until 9 p.m. at Cutler O'Neill MeyerWoodring Funeral Home.

The funeral was planned for Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael D. Kalstrup of the Fellowship of Faith Christian Center officiating. Burial was to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Lewis Township Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue.
