In Memory: Leo Hobbies

Leo M. Hobbies, 92, of Fountain West Health Care Center in West Des Moines died of a heart aliment there Saturday. Services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial was at Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Hobbies was born in Neola and had lived there until moving to the Des Moines area in 1955. He was a retired program specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society. He enjoyed volunteer work, his grandchildren's activities and fishing.

He is survived by a daughter, Katie Tippins of Des Moines; a son, Robert Leo Hobbies of Edina, Minnesota; two sisters, Loretta Schnitker of Neola and Catherine Phillips of Irvine, California; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret.
