In Memory: Ruth Langfeldt

Ruth Langfeldt, 93, of Council Bluffs, died January 17 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

She was born February 14, 1908, to Carl and Clara (Schultz) Langfeldt in Norwalk Township. She graduated from Minden High School in 1925 and received her teacher’s certificate from Wayne State Teachers College in 1927. She graduated from Simpson College in 1931 with a liberal arts degree.

She was a social worker for the Pottawattamie County Department of Social Services. She retired I 1976. Prior to that she taught first and third grade at Weston School. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she served as church organist. She also belonged to the Federated Woman’s Club, Pottawattamie County Historical Society and Dodge House.

Survivors include nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held Friday evening at CutlerFuneral Chapel. The funeral was held Saturday at 10 A.M with the Rev. Judith Hazen officiating. Burial was in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at St. John Lutheran Church. Memorials may be offered to St. John Lutheran Church or the Rocky Ridge Music Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Cutler Funeral Home was in charge or arrangement.
