In Memory: Thelma Jensen

Thelma “Grandma” Larson Jensen, 81, a resident of rural Underwood for most of her life, died January 20, 2002 at Bethany Lutheran home in Council Bluffs.

She was born December 10, 1920 at Honey Creek, Iowa, and the daughter of Henry Schroder and Jessie M. Shadden.

She was a homemaker who loved living in the farming community. Her husband Maynard died in 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara and her husband James Hoyt of Phoenix, Arizona and Pattie and her husband Joe Trumbull of Kennesaw, Georgia; three sons, Ron and his wife Carolyn Larson of Council Bluffs, Gary and his wife Sandy Larson of Underwood and Donald Thompson of Silver City; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine and her husband Bill Freeman of Valentine, Nebraska and Betty and her husband Dick Danker of Missouri Valley; and two brothers. Elmer and his wife Marilyn Schroder of Minden and Dick and his wife Rosella of Phoenix, Arizona.

Prayer service will be Thursday at 6:30 followed by visitation with the family until 8:30 P.M. at the Belford-O’Neill Funeral Home in Council Bluffs.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 25 at 1 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Munson officiating. Burial will be in the Grange Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be offered to Bethany Lutheran Home, the National Kidney Foundation or Special Olympics.
