Laurene Christensen

Laurene K. Christensen, 62, of Council Bluffs died Feb. 2 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1940, to James I. and Kathryn L. (Staats) Gordon. She was a 1958 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. She retired from Union Pacific Railroad as administrative assistant in 1999 after 25 years of service.

Mrs. Christensen was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Donald H. Christensen, on June 20, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Keith and wife, Carla, of Treynor and Donald and wife, Gina, of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren, Charles "CJ" Woltman, Anthony, Kayli, Erik and Kyle Christensen; four sisters-in-law, Agnes McManus of Glenwood, Clara Horan and husband, Francis, Mabel Bandomer and husband, Art, and Helen Waugh, all of Council Bluffs; two brothers-in-law, Howard Christensen and wife, Jean, and Robert Christensen and wife, Lisa, all of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

Prayer service with the family will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday with visitation to follow until 9 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael D. Kalstrup of the Fellowship of Faith Christian Center officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Lewis Township Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue.
