John Eklund

The funeral for John Eklund, 71, of Council Bluffs will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Prescott officiating.

Mr. Eklund died Feb. 2 at Nebraska Skilled Nursing Home in Omaha.

He was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Ft. Dodge to Carl V. and Signe M. Hagen Eklund. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Bluffs Cycle as a mechanic.

Mr. Eklund was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, daughter Julie and brother Melvin.

Survivors include one daughter, Patty Blum, and husband, Robert, of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Alice Deterding and husband, John, of Kearney, Neb., and Esther Ritchie and husband, Cal, of Florida; sister-in-law, Betty Eklund, of Rockford, Ill.

Visitation with the family will be tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion.
