Edwin Bornholdt 1902-1945

Funeral services for Edwin Bornholdt, 43, were held from the First Lutheran church in Avoca Sunday with the Rev. Joseph Gerlt in charge of the services. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Bornholdt died suddenly at his home north of Avoca last Thursday from a heart ailment.

Edwin Benhardt Bornholdt, a son of Benhardt Bornholdt and his wife, Mary Karstens, was born on February 21, 1902, just north of Avoca, the farm place where the Bornholdts have resided the past twenty years. This place was the home of Mr. Bornholdt for 43 years, 6 months, and 3 days.

He was married to Amy Orth on February 11, 1925, which union was blessed with four children, 3 daughters and one son. Two daughters: Betty Lavon (July 1926) and Delores (June 1934) have preceded him in death.

There remain to mourn his death besides his widow, an only daughter, Mary Jean (Mrs. Roderick Krummell) and an only son, Donald still at home and an only grandson, Gary Walter Krummel. Two sisters: Wilma (Mrs. John Hansen) and Anna (Mrs. Leo Tierney) and a brother, Clarence.

His parents and a brother, harry, have preceded him in death.
