Harry How 1868-circa 1942
Last Rites held here Wednesday

Funeral services for Harry A. How, 74, were held at the Blust Bros. Funeral home Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock with the Rev. Ivan C. Bachtell officiating.

Mr. How died Monday morning at a Council Bluffs nursing home following the several months of sickness. He was the son of pioneer Avoca residents and had lived here for the most part of his life. He was born in Council Bluffs, November 16, 1868.

Mr. How took up the milling trade when a boy, worked on the Burlington railroad for a time and then he returned to Avoca. He was always interested in the civic life of the community and served as mayor of the town for two terms.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Harry F. of Avoca and Stanley J., of Omaha; one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Grotte of Omaha; three grandsons, Stanley J., Norman and Byron How; and two granddaughters, Mrs. Clifford Hurd and hazel Rosalie How.
