Dies Suddenly Tuesday

Funeral services for John Paulsen, 66, will be held at the First Congregational church Friday at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Ivan C. Bachtell officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Paulsen died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Woltman, Tuesday at 6:30 pm following a heart attack suffered that afternoon downtown. Mr. Paulsen had been suffering from heart trouble for the past several years.

He is survived by his daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Harry Woltman) of this city; two sisters, Mary of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Gretta of Omaha’ and two brothers, Henry of Mansfiedld, Ohio, and Fred of Oakland, California

Mr. Paulsen had been an employee of the Rock Island rail road for many years before his retirement about a year ago. He was an extensive property owner in Avoca and was always interested in the life of the community. Long a faithful and generous member of his church, he also contributed heavily to other worthy causes, often signing his donation from “a friend.”
