Jack Mauer, 48, is Electrocuted
Minden Man Killed While Installing Pump

Arthur H. “Jack” Mauer (July 29, 1895 - July 23, 1943), 48, of Minden, was electrocuted at 6:30 pm Friday at the farm of George Hansen, five miles northwest of Neola, where he and a son, Paul, were installing an electric well pump.

Coroner L. H. Tyler said that Mauer suffered the shock when a short circuit developed during the installation of the electric pump.

Mauer’s father, Calvin, was killed about three months ago while pushing a wheelbarrow across the Rock Island tracks at Minden.

Mauer is survived by his widow, Anna; three sons, Ronald in the armed services, Paul and Bobby at home; his mother, Mrs. Katherine Mauer; four brothers, Clarence of Minden;, Wesley of Shelby and Earl of Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Joe Wood of Council Bluffs.

The body will be taken from the Tyler funeral home to the Mauer home in Minden where it will lie in state from noon Sunday to 1:30 pm Monday, where short services will be held. At 2 pm services will be held at the Minden Congregational church with the Rev. G. B. Bauman officiating. The Minden post of the American Legion will have charge of services at the grave. Burial will be in the Minden cemetery.
