Anton Petersen 1879-1943

Funeral services for Anton Petersen will be held at the Presbyterian church here today (Thursday) at 2 pm. Burial will be in the Graceland cemetery. Mr. Petersen died at his home at Menlo, Iowa, Tuesday, October 19.

Anton Petersen born at Avoca, Iowa, July 24, 1879, son of Christian and Marla Petersen grew to manhood at Avoca and received his education at Avoca schools.

He was united in marriage to Anna Nielsen of Avoca on April 21, 1903. To this union two sons were born.

He was a farmer in Pottawattamie county for thirty three years before moving to Menlo, Iowa where he has farmed for the past seven years.

He died at his home near Menlo, Tuesday afternoon, October 19, 1943, after suffering the past several weeks from heart trouble.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, two sons, Christian of Denver, Colorado and Martin of Menlo; also two grandchildren besides three sisters, Mrs. Roy Hetzell, Mrs. Henry Karstens and Mrs. Lester Smith all of Avoca and two brothers, Jacob and D. P. also of Avoca.
