Sam DeKlotz 1859-1943

Funeral services for Sam DeKlotz were held at the Blust Bros. Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm with the Rev. Ivan Bachtell officiating. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.

Samuel Deklotz was born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas DeKlotz at Cedar Rapids, Iowa on January 8, 1859.

He died at the Mehren’s Nursing Home in Avoca on Sunday evening, April 4, 1943, at the age of 84 years. He was a pioneer of this community, having come with his parents to Avoca as a child. He was a carpenter by trade and was very active in outdoor sports. He never married.

His parents and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Morvee, Mrs. Elizabeth Hamm, and Mrs. Anna Schmidt preceded him in death. Harry Schmidt, a nephew, is the only relative living in Avoca.
