Herman Utermarck 1868-1942

Herman Utermarck, a resident of Wadena county, passed away on December 26, 1942, at the Wesley hospital there of complications from diabetes. He had been a patient in the hospital six months.

He was 74 years, 10 months, and two days old at the time of his passing. Mr. Utermarck was born in Germany, February 24, 1868. He came to America when 18 years of age and lived in Chicago and then went to Iowa where he started farming. In 1903, he moved to Wadena, Minnesota and there continued farming until 1928 when the Utermarcks moved into the city of Wadena, retiring from farm life.

Mr. Utermarck was married to Anna Heesch of Avoca on March 6, 1891. His wife died about two years ago. After the death of his wife, he made his home with his children. Survivors are his nine children: three daughters and six sons, Mrs. Andrew Volkmann of Crosby, N.D., Edward, Fred, and Mrs. E. B. Thomson all of Wadena, Minnesota, Mrs. Arthur Brunko of Hewitt, Minnesota, Ludwig of New York, Mills of Minnesota, Herman of Milwaukee, Minnesota and John with the armed services and Clarence of Seattle, Washington.
