Tip Donaldson 1903-1943

Funeral services for Tip Franklin Donaldson, 40, of Tennant were held at the Blust Bros. funeral home Wednesday afternoon with Reverend Peter Trucano in charge.

Mr. Donaldson died in an Omaha hospital Sunday morning from a brain hemorrhage caused from a fractured skull. According to the coroner’s report the fracture was the result of a fall while Donaldson was pushing a meat truck at the Swift packing plant in south Omaha.

Donaldson was a barber in Tennant before going to work in the Omaha packing plant. He also followed the barbering trade in both Avoca and Hancock.

Tip Franklin Donaldson was born February 18, 1903 at Avoca, the son of Egert and Matilda Donaldson. On May 7, 1923, he married Pluma Menefee of Walnut.

He is survived by his widow and three children, Dixie Dell, Mary Lou, and Tip Jr., all of Tennant. Also two sisters, one half sister, three brothers, and one half brother: Mrs. Glee McConnell of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Hazel Pickeral of Stoneham, Colorado, Mrs. Stella Stevens of Rinard, Iowa; Oliver Donaldson of Shelby; Bud Donaldson of Avoca, Seth Donaldson of Stoneham, Colorado; and George Donaldson of Wheatland, Wyoming.

CORONER FIND DEATH ACCIDENT

A Douglas county coroner Tuesday held that Tip Franklin Donaldson, 40, Omaha employee of Swift and Company and a former resident of Tennant, came to his death accidentally.

Donaldson fell last Saturday while pushing a meat truck, suffering a fractured skull. His body was taken to Avoca for burial.
