Mrs. Hans (Anna Timm) Petersen 1857-1949

Last rites for Mrs. Hans Petersen, 92, were held from the First Lutheran church in Avoca Wednesday at 2 pm with the Rev Joseph Gerlt officiating. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Dorothea Petersen, a daughter of Hans J. Timm and his wife, Margareta Jansen was born in Meldorf, Germany on March 6, 1857 and died in Council Bluffs on Monday, October 24, 1949. She reached the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 28 days.

After coming to this country she was married to Hans Petersen on March 2, 1876 at Harlan. In 884, they moved to a farm near Avoca. With the exception of several years in Harrison county and about 8 years in South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Petersen lived in the Avoca community.

Mr. Petersen preceded his wife in death on June 18, 1938. They were privileged to live together for over 61 years.

They were the parents of 12 children: 5 sons and 7 daughters. Four of the children: Julius, Fred, Anna, and Della preceded their mother in death.

She is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Jasper Pierce, Mrs. Calvin Woods, Mrs. William Patterson, Mrs. Floyd Watermann, and Mrs. Harry Hansen. Three sons: Arthur, Edward, and Herman also survive their mother. Mrs. Petersen is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Claus Neve of Avoca and 21 grandchildren.
