Mrs. Gus (Meta Dittmer) Mandelkow
Last rites for Mrs. Gus Mandelkow who died in a Council Bluffs hospital Friday, January 10th were held from the Blust Berthusen funeral home in Avoca Sunday, January 12, with the Rev Joseph Gerlt in charge of the services.

Mrs. Mandelkow was born the daughter of Henry Dittmer and his wife Margaretha Schlepkohl near Minden on March 18, 1888. She lived with her folks in the Minden neighborhood until she was about nine years of age, when they moved to Clarks, Nebraska.

On September 25, 1913, she was married to Gus Mandelkow and lived in Avoca since that time. She is survived by three sons; Lawrence and Elmer of Avoca, Walter of Bellview, Minnesota; three sisters, Mrs. Emma McDowell of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Ella Myers of Wray, Colorado; Mrs. Dorothy Mustard of Clarks Nebraska; three brothers: Herman and Henry Dittmer of Avoca, Otto Dittmer of Clarks, Nebraska; two half-sisters Mrs. Anna Merrit of California, Mrs. Martha Randals of Clarks, Nebraska, and her step mother Mrs. Maggie Dittmer of Clarks, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers: Charles, Hugo and her twin brother, John Dittmer and a half-sister, Mrs. Minne Bladt.
