Peter Hauptman 1872-circa 1947
Peter Hauptman, 75, retired farmer, who resided at the home of his sister, Mrs. Will Nilan, in Walnut, died suddenly Friday morning from a heart attack.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 am Tuesday in the Catholic Church at Avoca with Rev. E. J. Schumann in charge. Burial was in Avoca.
Mr. Hauptman was born in Peoria, Illinois, May 20, 1872, the son of Henry and Ellen Hauptman. While a small child he came with his mother, brother and sister to the Hancock vicinity where the family farmed and where Mr. Hauptman continued to farm until he retired some years ago. Since then he had made his home with his sister, who with 12 nieces and nephews is his only survivor.
