Mrs. John Russmann (Maggie Ploehn) 1870-1945

Funeral services for Mrs. John Russmann, 75, who died at her home southwest of Avoca last Wednesday evening were held from the First Lutheran church here Sunday, August 25 at 2 pm with Rev Joseph Gerlt in charge of the services with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Russmann was born on November 26, 1870 in Husem, Schleswig Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Thomas Ploehn and Marie Hansen. She came to the United States when she was about twenty years old.

She was married to John Russmann on December 31, 1894. She is survived by three sons: Herman, Adolph, and Albert all of Avoca; two daughters: Mrs. Robert Paine of Berkley, California, Miss Alvena Russman who lives with her brother Herman on the home farm; a step son, Fred Russmann of Walnut and a step daughter, Mrs. Henry H. Rock of Avoca. Another step son, Chris Russmann, preceded her in death. She is also survived by ten grandchildren.
