Mrs. Chris HinzFuneral services for Mrs. Chris (Anna) Hinz, 74, were held at the First Lutheran church in Avoca Sunday with the Rev Joseph Gerlt officiating. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.
Mrs. Hinz, daughter of Jacob Wasser and his wife, Marie Stehl, was born March 1, 1874, near Minden and passed away at her home in Avoca Friday morning following a long illness at the age of 74 years, five months, and nine days.
She came with her parents to the Avoca community as a young lady and on March 5, 1893, was married to Chris Hinz. Together they started farming west of Avoca where they resided for ten years, then moving to Columbia, Mo., where they lived for three years. They returned to Avoca in 1908 and purchased a farm two and one-half miles southeast of town and continued there until 1921 when they retired to their present home in Avoca.
Mrs. Hinz was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and the Women’s Missionary Society of the First Lutheran church and was always active in church work.
Mr. Hinz preceded her in death by only a week. There remain to mourn one daughter, Rosa, Mrs. Gus Lassen of Chicago; four sons: Fred of Avoca, Ernest of Chicago, Clarence of Minden, glen of Ft.Worth, Texas; five grandsons, and one great grandson.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Joseph Wasser and a sister in infancy.
