Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Elizabeth How at the Blust-Berthusen funeral home in Avoca with the Rev. John DeBerg officiating. Interment was in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. How, a longtime Avoca resident, had spent the last four years with her daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Grottle of Omaha, Nebraska. Her death came suddenly Sunday afternoon when she was visiting at her son’s home, Stanley How of also of Omaha. Her son, Harry of Avoca was in Omaha visiting his mother at the time of her death.

Elizabeth McClory How was born in Listorvel, Ontario, Canada on August 6, 1869. Her mother died when she was eleven years of age. Her father brought the family to the United States and settled on a farm near Hancock, Iowa.

Mrs. How’s girlhood was spent in Avoca where her father finally settled. She was united in marriage to Albert How in 1890, and all her married life was spent in Avoca. Her husband died in 1943.

Mrs. How was member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include three children, Kathryn, Harry, and Stanley and five grandchildren.
