Mrs. Ella Matilda Rock Sieh 1896-1949

Funeral services for Mrs. Ferd Sieh were held from the First Lutheran church in Avoca Sunday, May 29 (1949), with the Reverend Joseph Gerlt officiating. Burial was in Graceland cemetery. Mrs. Sieh died at a Council Bluffs hospital Thursday, May 26. She had been in poor health for some time.

Mrs. Ella Matilda Sieh, the oldest child of Henry V. Rock and his wife Bertha Plautz, was born in Pleasant township on May 23, 1896. She reached the age of 53 years and 3 days.

On September 10, 1921 she was married to Ferdinand Sieh and they began farming two miles west of Avoca.

Mrs. Sieh is survived by her husband; two sons: Erwin and Elmer, both of Avoca; her father, H.V. Rock; four brothers, Arnold, Leo, Carl and Oscar Rock of Avoca; six sisters, Mrs. William Pattee, Mrs. Rhinhardt Krummel, Mrs. John Carroll all of Avoca, Mrs. Raymond Burmeister and Mrs. Richard McKinney of Hancock, and Mrs. Herman Boettger of Harlan. A brother Herbert and her mother preceded her in death.
