Hans Henningsen of Walnut passed away Sunday evening at the home of his son, Wilbert, of Griswold. He and his wife had moved there several weeks ago due to his very poor health.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Bust-Berthusen funeral home by the Rev. R. G. Dohrman of the Lutheran church of Atlantic. Interment followed at the Graceland cemetery.

Hans Henningson was born on August 20, 1882, the son of Hans and Catherine Henningsen at Ostenfeld, Schleswig-Holstein,Germanyu. He came to the United States with his parents at the age of 18 months and settled in the Avoca vicinity. He was married to Mary Thomsen February 26, 1908, who died in 1928. On January 7, 1932, he was married to Bertha Buttenschon. He farmed here for many years. The last ten years of his life were spent in retirement, mostly at Walnut.

Survivors include his wife; his son, Wilbert: a step daughter, Mrs. Harvey Jessen of Walnut; three grandchildren; four sisters: Annie Russmann, Emma Berge, and Ella Plautz all of Avoca and Lille Nichols of Omaha; two brothers, John of Avoca, and William of Atlantic. A son, in infancy, and a sister, Minnie, preceded him in death.

Hans Henningsen was baptized in the Lutheran church in Germany and was for a time a member of the First Lutheran church of Avoca.
