Christina Dorothy Christiansen Hickman
Feb 10, 1874 - July 12, 1948Last rites for Mrs. George Hickman of Avoca will be conducted this afternoon at 2 pm at the Blust-Berthusen funeral home with the Rev. J. M. DeBerg Officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland cemetery.
Mrs. Hickman died Monday at the Jennie Edmundson hospital at Council Bluffs where she was taken three weeks ago after she fell and broke her hip. She had been in failing health for some time.
Christina Dorothy Christiansen, daughter of Henry and Christina Christiansen was born at Avoca on February 10, 1874. She was united in marriage to George Hickman on October 22, 1891. To this union were born five children, three girls and two boys. A daughter, Viola, died in 1926.
Mrs. Hickman lived at Walnut for several years and the remaining years at Avoca. She was a member of the Lutheran church at Walnut.
The deceased leaves to mourn her death her husband; two daughters: Mrs. Edna Poland of Kimballotn and Mrs. Ethelyn Gains of St. Joseph, Missouri; two sons: Arthur of Avoca and George Jr., of Mapleton; one sister, Mrs. Lena Niemann of Avoca; one brother, William Christensen of Forsythe, Missouri, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
