Henry Claus Alpen
Aug 1, 1874 - Feb 15, 1948

Funeral services for Henry C. Alpen who died at a Council Bluffs hospital Monday, February 16, were held from the Blust-Berthusen funeral home today (Thursday) at 2 pm with the Rev Joseph Gerlt in charge of the services. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Alpen lived in Avoca for more than 60 years. He was 73 years, 6 months, and 14 days old at the time of his death. His wife, the former Ethel Briggs, died over 20 years ago.

He is survived by two sons: John Henry Alpen of Avoca and Darwin Alpen of Council Bluffs; four daughters: Mrs. Frank Kistler of Brownstone, Il.; Mrs. James Lewis of Glendale, Ca; Mrs. Frank Lewis of Britton, Oklahoma; Mrs. Jerry Frazier of Glendale, Ca.,. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Burke of Omaha; Mrs. Katie Danker of Welliston, Ok., and Mrs. Annie Rhodes of Lincoln, Ne.

Preceding him in death besides his wife were four sons: Roy, William, Ivan, and Robert and a sister, Mrs. Emma Burcham.
