Mrs. Ben (Bertha Schaaf) Kohlscheen 1886-1947

Funeral services for Mrs. Ben Kohlscheen were held from the First Lutheran church here Saturday afternoon at 2 pm with the Rev. Joseph Gerlt in charge of the services. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Kolscheen, a twin daughter of Matz Schaaf and his wife Dorothea Eggerss, was born October 10, 1886, in Knox township near the farm where she spent all her married life. On February 22, 1910, she was married to Ben Kohlscheen and began farming on the place where they have loived since.

She was a member of the First Lutheran church and was active in the work of the church. Mrs. Kohlscheen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Goettsch, near Walnut on Wednesday, February 11 at the age of 61 years, 4 months, and one day.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Goettch of Walnut; one son, Norman of Omaha; two grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
