Howard Wallace Leslie 1907-1947
Funeral services for Howard Leslie, 40, were held from the Blust Berthusen funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm with Rev. A. L. Goodson, pastor of the Congregational church in charge of the services. Burial was in Graceland cemetery here.
Howard Wallace Leslie was born on June 7, 1907, on a farm near Avoca. He attended grade school in Avoca until his parents moved to Colorado in 1922, where he completed the eighth grade. After one year in Colorado he came back with his parents to the farm near Avoca, where he remained until 1947, when the family moved to town.
Howard had been in poor health for about ten years, but in spite of this he worked for some time in the Leslie Garage.
His condition took a turn for the worse about five weeks ago, and he was taken to the hospital in Council Bluffs Saturday. Here everything was done that could be done, but he passed away on Monday morning, April 19, about 5 o’clock. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leslie; and two brothers: Orin and Homer. Also two nieces, Peggy and Janet Leslie.
